Hoppy's Biggest Fan by Steve Head - Giclee Print on Gallery Wrapped Canvas

Hopalong Cassidy or Hop-along Cassidy is a fictional cowboy hero created in 1904 by the author Clarence Mulford, who wrote a series of popular short stories and many novels based on the character.

1n the 1940's and 1950's the Hopalong Cassidy character was portrayed on TV, Radio and in films by actor William Boyd. The series and character were so popular that Hopalong Cassidy was featured on the cover of national magazines such as Look, Life, and Time.  Boyd earned millions as Hopalong ($800,000 in 1950 alone),] mostly from merchandise licensing and endorsement deals. In 1950, Hopalong Cassidy was featured on the first lunchbox to bear an image, causing sales of Aladdin Industries lunch boxes to jump from 50,000 units to 600,000 units per year.  In stores, more than 100 companies in 1950 manufactured $70 million of Hopalong Cassidy products, including children's dinnerware, pillows, roller skates, soap, wristwatches, and jackknives

If you are 60 years old or older, you probably have fond
memories of Hopalong Cassidy and how popular he was in those days. This artwork features a 1940's B&W vintage photo of a young boy, reading a Hopalong Cassidy comic while wearing his Hopalong boots and attire! The little boy in the photo is the father of Gary Stubblefield, a friend of the artist!
